Although this is an issue in fanfiction more often than not, it has also been an issue everywhere else.

When talking about somebody's lineage, it's best to remember, that the last of the line, at least at that present moment, is not the ancestor of that line. (Barring, of course, time travel) That person, instead, is the descendant of whatever people, line, king, etc. Please remember this. It's not that hard. Especially when you used the phrase 'descended from' in an earlier sentence.

And on a more fanfiction specific note, I would just like to mention that it is possible for people who aren't your main couple to be straight. I mean, if you want to just make your story just one big gay orgy, that's fine. But if you say your story is realistic, and not one character out of a couple dozen in your fic is even interested in the opposite gender, at that point I may have to just disagree with it being 'realistic'.

Just so you know, it's possible for homosexuals to appreciate the form of the opposite gender. It doesn't mean it necessarily turns them on, but they can at least acknowledge if someone is pretty/beautiful/handsome etc. Same thing goes with straight people and their own gender.

death is but the doorway to new life – we live today, we shall live again, in many forms shall we return.

After riding home on the dirigible from the Oasis of Ahm Shere after the defeat of the Army of Anubis and Mathayus the Scorpion King, the O'Connell's settled back down in their large mansion back in London. Young Alex O'Connell had continued with his regular schooling terms, Evelyn had decided to take the Bembridge Scholar's offer and became curator of the British Museum, while finally, Rick had decided to enjoy the time off from fighting the undead. It had been approximately three months since the O'Connell's settled down and one fateful evening, Ardeth Bey had walked upon their doorstep once again. It was Rick who had opened the door that evening and much to his dismay, received unfavorable knowledge as the bearer of bad news entered his household. His assumptions were spot on as he told the tale of two powerful amulets known as the Amulets of Karawan that were capable of leading the world to its undoing.

The legend began back in ancient Egypt in the Nineteenth Dynasty, where Pharaoh Seti I requested two powerful amulets to be made by the Egyptian God, Set, in order to ensure not only his own protection, but also his family's and Egypt's as well, while he worked towards restoring Egypt's power from before the Amarna Revolution. The amulets were later created and bestowed upon the pharaoh by a servant of Set. First, the Amulet of Khaldun was presented as a necklace representing the Ka symbol of life force, while finally, the Amulet of Setesh was presented as a Was scepter and possessed the abilities of time travel; Seti I had accepted them. When word spread that amulets from the Gods resided in Egypt, armies began to form in order to conquer the amulets and place them into their own countries possessions. Little did Seti I know that this was all Set's intention. Upon decision, Seti I decided to transport the amulets into a different timeframe of their own choosing, which later resulted in the Year of the Scorpion, 1933. From committing such an action the Amulet of Setesh was no longer capable of staying in one place. Now it was capable of traveling all around the world, never returning to the same place a second time unless it was its country of origin.

Another tale was told as he later spoke of an enemy tribe known as the Djed, who were the living descendants of Imhotep's priests from ancient Egypt. Unknowingly to the Medjai, the chieftain of the Djed was none other than the re-embodiment of Pharaoh Seti I under a new alias and persona. The reincarnated pharaoh had been leading the Djed to Hamunaptra, the City of the Dead, which had appeared as it did three thousand years ago due to the Amulet of Setesh's influence. They were on a quest in order to resurrect Imhotep and Anck-su-namun, who were said to have been granted the ability to see the Amulet of Setesh's location by the Egyptian God, Set. This task was not only given to the chieftain, but it was also completed successfully, and as a result of finding the Amulet of Khaldun, it was presented to Anck-su-namun so that she could not be harmed. Covertly, an elder of the Djed had told Imhotep and Anck-su-namun that Seti was currently unaware of their treason and advised them to act as the pharaoh's once faithful courtiers.

As this phenomenon occurred, the O'Connell's had no knowledge that the Amulet of Khaldun had already been located; furthermore, they had left London soon after. With the O'Connell's now on the move and the Djed now after the Amulet of Setesh, this journey has yet to be written, let alone the destination. What becomes of this tale is left up to you as you decide your fate, your side, as well as the fate of the world!

CURRENT CANONS WANTED

Alex O'Connell (Most Wanted)
Alex wasn’t your typical eight year old kid. He liked to spend more time at museums and reading books rather than being at home. Completely unaware of his parent’s adventures in the past and how they met, young Alex put on the Bracelet of Anubis and was kidnapped by a cult that was determined to resurrect Imhotep and was forced to lead them to Ahm Shere. Now that he’s back in his family's hands, Alex spent the past three months returning to his normal life as well as continuing his schooling. But when Ardeth came requesting his family’s assistance, Alex went along with them and when they arrived at Hamunaptra, the City of the Dead, Alex disobeyed his mother’s orders of not touching anything and touched a mysterious artifact and fell through a trapdoor! He fell unconscious, and was visited by the Egyptian God, Horus, through this predicament. Horus told him that they had been waiting for him and that he was to become the destroyer of the amulets in order to restore balance. Twelve would be taken from him and on the twelfth day of the twelfth month he would be required to choose. When he had awoken from this predicament, Alex found that he was no longer a child, but an adult that appeared to be in his early twenties. Alex must now learn how to be an adult as well as take part of this expedition willingly or unwillingly. Through all of this, Alex also discovers that while it is great being an adult, it isn’t just fun and games. He also seems to have made friends with the chieftain of the Djed’s wife, Tuya, much to his mother’s displeasure. His child celebrity is Freddie Boath and his adult celebrity is your choice.

Anck-su-namun / Meela Nais (Most Wanted)
Back in ancient times, Anck-su-namun was a concubine to Pharaoh Seti I and no other man was allowed to touch her. She was also Princess Nefertiri’s mentor in martial combat. Through all of this, Anck-su-namun gained the pharaohs trust and was granted the ability to see where the Amulet of Setesh was located when it was sent into the future. She gained the ability of seeing what building it was located in as well as what room it was located in. Years later, Anck-su-namun was requested to duel in front of the pharaoh and his court against Nefertiri. Anck-su-namun triumphed and became the pharaoh’s bodyguard and fiancé while Nefertiri became protector of the Bracelet of Anubis. Unknowingly to the pharaoh, Anck-su-namun had an affair with the High Priest of Osiris, Imhotep, and one evening when Seti entered her chambers, both Imhotep and Anck-su-namun would assassinate the pharaoh just as they had planned. However, their plans were ruined as Nefertiri alerted the Medjai to come to her father’s aid. Anck-su-namun then committed suicide rather than suffer the consequences. She was later reincarnated three thousand years later as Meela Nais and also attempted to resurrect Imhotep from his grave as they journeyed to Ahm Shere. She had betrayed Imhotep and left him to his death, but later fell to her own. She was resurrected three months later by the reincarnation of Seti, the chieftain of the Djed, in order to aid them in finding the amulets. She now wears the Amulet of Khaldun; although upon killing Evelyn who was captured by the Djed at the time (who was subsequently brought back to life by Seti’s reincarnation); it was taken away from her as punishment. Her celebrity is Patricia Velásquez.

Rick O'Connell (Desperately Needed)
Formerly a member of the French Foreign Legion, Rick led his unit to Hamunaptra; however, they were ambushed by the Medjai and forced to retreat. Left to wander in the desert, Rick found himself back at Cairo but was put in jail for abandoning the legion. He was rescued by Evelyn under the condition that he led her, her brother and the warden to Hamunaptra. When Evelyn accidentally resurrected Imhotep from his grave, Rick was reluctant to assist them once they returned to Cairo, but when Evelyn became more involved he decided to assist them and aided them in killing the mummy in order to rescue Evelyn. Years later Rick has a son named Alex with Evelyn who was kidnapped by a cult determined to resurrect Imhotep shortly after they returned home from finding the Bracelet of Anubis. He travelled to the Oasis of Ahm Shere following the clues that Alex had left them and was responsible for defeating the Scorpion King. Now in this upcoming adventure Rick was reluctant on participating due to the events that happened three months ago but was convinced by his wife. He was the one that found Alex when he fell through a trapdoor and became an adult. However, when his wife was taken by the Djed, he found himself days later being transported to Ireland after touching the Amulet of Setesh without reciting an incantation. He was later found by Evelyn at the boarding dock for London and was once again reunited with the heroes. His celebrity is Brendan Fraser.

I was reading a tutorial orginally written for Photoshop, and I noticed something odd. Sometimes she addresses layer opacity, and other times she addresses "fill" For example...
"Create a Color Fill Layer: # e3db9c – Set it to Overlay – Fill: 20 %" and then...
"Set the Layer to Lighten – Opacity: 20 % "

Is this a Photoshop term, or is it an actual blending mode that will affect the outcome of the icon? If it IS a blending mode, how do I achieve it in GIMP?

My name is Lisa. I am a 19 years old. I'm 6 feet tall, and my mother tells me I have child-bearing hips. I hate when people say I should be a model.

I'm a freshman in college majoring in special education and hoping to figure out a minor soon. I'm already $19,000 dollars in debt, but I don't mind. Money is not important to me when it comes to important decisions. I've been told I follow my heart too much, but is that really such a bad thing?

I enjoy music a lot, although I'm not a snob about it like some people can be. I don't judge by music, but I like people who are into the same bands as me. I also like Studio Ghibli films, playing video games, being anti-social, taking naps, swooning over attractive people, laughing, giraffes, drinking, goldfishies, my family, and.. other stuff.

Oh, and here's a picture.

I would like to make new friends. A lot of my current ones.. stopped posting. Since I have no life, I'm on here a lot.
I'd really appreciate trying to have new friendships. :D

It's the late 70s. Leg warmers are cool, Pink Floyd's The Wall has just been released, shag carpets and bellbottoms are free to roam, Bowie sparkles, and plaid rules the world. But the wizarding world is changing. War is everywhere, more people are dying, political and personal lives alike are becoming thickly ingrained with fear, and, on top of all that, none of these kids will get a damn haircut.

I don't care if it is Princess Tutu yaoi, describing a kiss as a "hot, wet pas de deux" is unappealing.

I guess I should write a bit more about myself this time around.

I'm a twenty year old white chick. I'm currently reading Death in Venice but kind of wanting to play the Sims 3 instead. I grew up in the country but I moved to Montreal for school four years ago. I never want to leave. I'm not sure that listing a bunch of my likes and dislikes will entice you add me because I don't really talk about like, tv shows and my favorite foods in my journal. I mostly write about my day-to-day life. I don't suffer from any sort of disorder like some people proudly proclaim to, but I'm definitely neurotic. I try to examine my life from every angle. I don't really write about that, though. I like to yell in caps sometimes. I also swear like a sailor, so don't be easily offended by that.

I read voraciously. I'm more of a homebody than anyone I know, but I don't really get along with my family. My real passion is music, but I can't play. I don't have any artistic skills at all, really, and that bugs the hell out of me.

Okay, none of this is relevant, but I honestly have no idea what to talk about. Look at my profile because it can probably sell me better than I can here.

Comment somewhere before adding, please, either here or on my FO entry.

I know opinion is divided on script-format fanfic. Personally I prefer regular prose, but whatever floats your boat.

However, I think we can all agree that script-format porn looks really, really stupid unless it's actually being acted out.

I stumbled across this beautiful tutorial and want to try ity out. However, the tutorial was written with Photoshop and tells users to use a "Pin Light" layer setting in one of the steps. This setting seems to be inaccessable for GIMP users. :( Is there a way to "fake" it, much like the "Screen>Screen>Subtract" trick for "Exclusion?

I dabble in a rather small and strange enough fandom.
And I understand that there is lots of conflicting information about this
character's name so I'm ready to give leeway wether
you write/pronounce "judgment" or "judgement" in his name and dialog...

But if you really must describe his appearance up to the
writing on his body, it still says "Judgment Day", without the little "e".
That's the line of irritation to me*. Especially since the show was originally
Japanese, so there probably was someone making the decision that this would happen in US.

*Though since english isn't my first language I don't know if others would find this
as irritating but to me proper describing of objects (with text) is sacred. At least
if the way it's written gives information of any kind.

Dear NCIS writer:

Gibbs is loving and overprotecting of Abby. This is not only canon; it's basically part of the character's definition. As is the fact that he's good with kids and caring of them, and the fact that he lost his only daughter.

He's that way towards her as it is, can you imagine if she got pregnant - let alone with his child? No matter how it happened (sex, in vitro, he gave her a seed and she inserted it through her bellybutton) or why (they're deeply in love, he's doing it as a friend...), he'd probably have eyes only for them. He definitely wouldn't renounce his rights as a parent (even if she asked him to), or let her do all the "mom" stuff alone, and his reaction to her pregnancy certainly wouldn't be limited to a "Congrats, you'll be a great mom".
